Whether we like it or not, we’re the sum total of the decisions and choices we’ve made up until now. The good news is, if you don’t like where you’re at, you can change your destiny. In this two-part series of the Pinnacle Leaders Podcast, we explore the first chapter of Ruth to see the consequences of bad decisions and God’s mercy to restore his people to his intended blessings and promises.

At its core, the book of Ruth is an in-depth look at the goodness and mercy of God. It illustrates how a wrong decision can take someone out of the intended promises and plan of God and bring them into a place of difficulty and hardship. At the same time, it demonstrates how God can bring restoration and fruitfulness to a situation that started with famine, death and loss.
Elimelech was from Bethlehem in Judah, which means he was one of God’s covenant people. He lived during a time of darkness and spiritual confusion in Israel, and he made the mistake of taking his family to live in the land of Moab. He removed himself, his wife and his children from the protection and blessing of God’s country and settled in a cursed land. This decision would mark his life with tragedy.
Your decisions have a profound impact on the destiny of others.
Not all bad decisions lead to tragedy, but at the very best they lead us away from the blessings and goodness of God.
